Cozy Flight

As the opening chapter of the Cozy trilogy, Cozy Flight serves as an invitation to slow down. This piece explores the gentle, weightless rhythm of flight through a deeply tactile and handcrafted lens. Drawing inspiration from the nostalgic charm of traditional paper puppetry, the film reimagines the sky as a series of physical layers.

By meticulously blending digital grain textures with soft, organic shadows, I aimed to construct a world that feels both fragile and incredibly warm. Every movement is designed to mimic the “perfect imperfections” of a physical set, bringing a sense of human touch to the digital screen. Take a breath, look up, and lose yourself in the quiet drift of a paper-made sky.

Cozy Journey

The second chapter of the Cozy series shifts our gaze from the clouds to the vast, rolling expanse of the open water. Cozy Journey is more than just an animation; it is a dedicated motion study on the steady, hypnotic pulse of the sea. By translating the fluid nature of the ocean into the structured, tactile medium of hand-cut paper, the piece creates a unique visual tension between the solid and the ethereal.

Through the use of undulating paper waves and a solitary, weathered ship, this installment explores a quiet philosophy: that peace is not found at the destination, but within the rhythmic consistency of the voyage itself. Every crest and trough is a layer of texture, inviting the viewer to slow their pace and drift alongside a vessel that is never in a hurry.

Not So Cozy

The Cozy trilogy reaches its crescendo with a departure from the tranquil. In this final chapter, the tactile, paper-cutout aesthetic remains, but the narrative focus shifts from the serenity of the elements to a landscape in a state of violent transformation. Not So Cozy is a visual paradox—it uses the soft, approachable medium of paper to depict the raw, full-scale fury of an active volcano.

The piece is anchored by a sharp contrast: the chaotic, incandescent eruption of the earth set against the quiet, orderly silhouette of a flock of black birds drifting through the ash. It is a dedicated study in extremes, exploring the thin line where the heat of the earth meets the fragility of cardstock. This finale serves as a reminder that even a landscape on the brink of destruction can hold a profound, albeit fleeting, kind of beauty.
